Find out what’s it really like working for a Software Studio in the heart of Silicon Spa. As we explore the roles of our team, starting with a local student gaining vital work experience.
At the start of September we had the opportunity to offer work experience to one of our local sixth form students, Jack. Currently finishing his A-Levels in Maths, Economics and Psychology, Jack spent three days with Appoly before hopefully going to University to study a degree in Economics.
I took the opportunity to speak to Jack about his time with Appoly to discover any useful insights he might have for anyone looking to get work experience at an independent Software Studio.
I’ve learned a lot about App and Web design. I had to do a lot of research and reading in order to fully understand my work. Which has give me a great opportunity to expand my knowledge about what it takes to make software look good.
The independence. Being given the opportunity to take control of my own work and undertake research was a fantastic way to learn. Through exploring new software I found myself learning new things everyday which gave me a great rewarding feeling.
Maybe not in terms of profession, however, it certainly has in terms of working environment. The community feel and togetherness at Appoly is fantastic so it has really opened my eyes as to what it’s like to work for a startup.
The one piece of advice I would give to someone looking at Appoly for work experience would be DO IT! They really do look after you. The tasks that you are set makes you feel like you are really helping the company.
Yes, all the employees are really friendly. The team made me feel welcome and like I was part of a community even for the short time I was with Appoly. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for work experience to come to Appoly.
It was great to have Jack in the office. We are delighted with the progress he made and the quality of work he produced.
